Sara Perez, 19, of East Elmhurst, was walking in front of Northern Lube and Tire Shop on Northern Boulevard when a 16-year-old driver in a Ford F-150 pickup hit her on the sidewalk, QNS reported. The city crash record lists one pedestrian killed, a Ford pickup, driver inattention or distraction as a contributing factor, and the driver’s license status as unlicensed. QNS reported that Perez was pinned between the pickup’s front bumper and a wooden wall, taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst, and pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene, and QNS reported no arrests at the time.

A driver hit her on the sidewalk

The crash happened at about 4:50 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2022, on Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights. QNS reported that a 16-year-old driver in a Ford F-150 pickup was entering Northern Lube and Tire Shop at 106-15 Northern Blvd. when he hit Sara Perez on the sidewalk.

QNS reported that Perez was pinned between the pickup’s front bumper and a wooden wall. EMS found her unconscious and unresponsive with head trauma, took her to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst, and she was pronounced dead there.
