Police reports cited by QNS placed the crash in the vicinity of 48th Street and Northern Boulevard, in a busy commercial section of Long Island City. QNS reported that Szeto lived on 46th Street in Astoria and was walking toward her home a few blocks away.
Szeto died after being taken to Elmhurst Hospital
Police and EMS found Szeto on the roadway with trauma to her body, QNS reported. She was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, where one QNS account said she was initially listed in critical condition and both accounts reported that she died the following Monday.
Police identified the driver and the SUV
QNS, citing police, described the driver as a 37-year-old man operating a Dodge Durango. The official crash record lists one SUV, a 2018 Dodge, with one occupant; the driver was licensed in New York.
Police said the driver stayed at the scene
QNS reported that the driver remained at the scene and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with minor injuries. Police said no arrests had been made and the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
