Driver Hit and Killed Pedestrian on Grand Avenue in Maspeth
At about 2:50 a.m. on Nov. 9, 2022, a 43-year-old woman driving a 2007 Chevy sedan on Grand Avenue in Maspeth hit and killed Chad Hallenbeck, 49, after police said she crossed the double yellow line.

Hallenbeck was identified as an upstate truck driver
The victim was identified as Chad Hallenbeck, 49, of East Durham in Greene County. Police and EMS found him unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway with severe body trauma, and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene. EMS took her to Elmhurst Hospital Center with minor injuries, and she was listed in stable condition, police said.
The records describe a sedan and a parked tractor trailer
The official vehicle records list a westbound 2007 Chevrolet sedan going straight ahead and a 2019 Freightliner diesel tractor truck that was parked and unoccupied. Police said Hallenbeck was near the tractor trailer when the driver hit him.
