Infiniti Driver Charged in Fatal Bed-Stuy Scooter Crash

Police accounts cited by local news said a 21-year-old driver in a 2020 Infiniti was traveling south on Marcus Garvey Boulevard when he hit the scooter rider, who was heading east on Decatur Street. The rider was taken to Kings County Hospital and pronounced dead. The crash was recorded at 4:27 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2023, at Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Decatur Street. City data lists one person killed: a 26-year-old male motorscooter driver.
Police told local outlets that the Infiniti driver was traveling south on Marcus Garvey Boulevard and the scooter rider was heading east on Decatur Street when the driver hit the rider at the intersection.

City records list the moving vehicles as a 2020 Infiniti sedan traveling south and a KSR Moto TTX motorscooter traveling east. The Infiniti had three occupants; the scooter had one.
Police accounts reported by Brooklyn Paper and the Daily News said the Infiniti driver stayed at the scene, and that he and two passengers were not hurt.
The rider was taken to Kings County Hospital
Police told reporters the scooter rider suffered severe head and body trauma. Medics took him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
Police later brought charges
Patch reported that police identified the driver as Antonio Small, 22, of Flatbush, and charged him with manslaughter, assault, reckless driving, speeding and related charges in connection with the crash.
