A fatal crash before dawn on the parkway

Police told QNS that officers responded to a 911 call near Exit 26 and Linden Boulevard just after 5 a.m. They found Lucili Osjo-Igbinoba on the roadway with severe trauma, and EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.

NYPD later identified the woman killed as Lucili Osjo-Igbinoba, 82, of Parkview Place in Elmont. The official crash record also lists the person killed as an 82-year-old female pedestrian.

According to QNS, the NYPD's preliminary investigation found that Osjo-Igbinoba was walking along the northbound Cross Island Parkway when a 42-year-old man driving a black Cadillac SUV hit her just north of the Southern State Parkway. The city record lists the vehicle as a 2015 Cadillac SUV traveling north with four occupants.

Investigators reported no suspected criminality

Police told QNS that the driver stayed at the scene and that no criminality was suspected. The Highway Collision Investigation Squad's investigation was described as ongoing.

The city crash record says the pedestrian was away from an intersection and crossing with no signal or crosswalk, and it lists pedestrian error or confusion as a contributing factor.
