Police described a rear-end crash on Roosevelt Avenue
QNS reported that Francisco Valle-Alatorre was cycling west on Roosevelt Avenue near 84th Street when police said a 45-year-old man driving a 2018 Honda Pilot rear-ended him. Police said he was thrown from his bike and suffered a head injury.
The city record and the QNS account disagree on the time and age details. The city record lists the crash at 3:05 a.m. and the bicyclist as 43; QNS, citing police, reported the crash at 2:30 p.m. and identified Valle-Alatorre as 44.
The cyclist died after a long hospitalization period
QNS reported that EMS took Valle-Alatorre to Elmhurst Hospital after the crash and that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said he died on Jan. 25 from complications of severe head trauma.
QNS identified Valle-Alatorre as a Woodside resident who lived on 62nd Street, just over a mile from the crash location.
Roosevelt Avenue has seen repeated serious harm

The city record lists a westbound 2018 Honda SUV and a westbound e-bike, each with one occupant, both going straight ahead before the crash.
QNS identified the SUV as a 2018 Honda Pilot.
Police reported no arrest at the scene
QNS reported that the driver remained at the scene, placed the 911 call and was not arrested. An NYPD spokeswoman told QNS that the Highway District Collision Investigation Squad would re-interview him as part of the ongoing investigation.
