Driver charged after fatal Northern Boulevard e-bike crash

Police said the rider was turning left when the driver hit him

The crash happened at about 6:13 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2023, on Northern Boulevard in Flushing. The official record lists one cyclist killed and no other injuries.

QNS, citing police, reported that Peter Seo was riding an e-bike east on Northern Boulevard and was trying to turn left onto Parsons Boulevard from the left-turn lane when Kyle Schreiber, driving west, allegedly hit him. Police said Schreiber continued west on Northern Boulevard after the crash.

Peter Seo died at the scene

The official record identifies the person killed as an 81-year-old male bicyclist. QNS identified him as Peter Seo, an 81-year-old Murray Hill senior. Officers from the 109th Precinct found him unconscious and unresponsive on the roadway, and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

The official crash record lists a westbound 2015 International flat bed and an eastbound e-bike. QNS, citing police, described Schreiber as driving a 2015 International tractor-trailer. The city record says the truck driver was going straight ahead, while the e-bike rider was making a left turn.

Schreiber was charged months later

QNS reported that Kyle Schreiber, 27, of Hauppauge, was arrested and booked at the 109th Precinct on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. The article said he pleaded not guilty at arraignment in Queens Supreme Court and was released on his own recognizance.
