The official vehicle records list a 2024 Volkswagen SUV as the moving motor vehicle and record the driver as unlicensed. They also list the bicyclist's bike and four parked vehicles in the crash record.

The Post described the driver's vehicle as a black Volkswagen SUV and said the driver then hit an unoccupied white Honda Odyssey parked at the side of the road. The Daily News described the driver's vehicle as a van and said the driver then hit an unoccupied sedan.

No arrests were reported that day

Police told the Post and the Daily News that no arrests had been made and that the investigation was ongoing. City Council member Lincoln Restler called the cyclist's death tragic and wrote, "We'll keep pushing for safer streets on every block."
