Public reports disagree on the woman's age

The official record and amNY described the victim as a 65-year-old woman. News12 identified her as Desiree Decosta but reported that she was 59, creating a conflict among the available public sources.

News12 reported that Decosta lived in Morrisania and that community members said the crash happened a few steps from her home. Neighbor Herbert Tyler called the death “tragic and unfortunate” and said residents were reminded to hold loved ones close.

amNY reported that the 43-year-old truck driver remained at the scene.
