St. Marks and Franklin became a sidewalk fatality scene
The crash happened at St. Marks Avenue and Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Police told the Daily News that the fatal injury occurred after the collision carried the Hyundai over the curb and onto the sidewalk.
Hoodline reported that emergency crews and detectives shut down lanes near the intersection and that traffic backed up for blocks while investigators worked at the scene.
A nearby resident called for help
Lakeysha Smith, who lives in a nearby building, told the Daily News she came outside as she was heading to a bus stop and saw the injured man. “I got on the phone and called 911. I was saying, ‘Help him, help him!’” she said.
Smith said a firefighter from her building ran down and administered CPR until an ambulance arrived. Medics took the pedestrian to Kings County Hospital, where he died.
Public accounts identify three vehicles
The Daily News, citing police, identified the moving vehicles as a 2025 Toyota Highlander and a 2026 Hyundai Palisade, and said the Hyundai later continued into a parked and unoccupied 2006 Honda Odyssey.
