West Side Spirit identified the woman who died as Doreen Meyers, a Hell's Kitchen resident, former Peace Corps volunteer and dedicated marathoner.
The Tesla driver stayed at the scene. West Side Spirit reported that two backseat passengers, a man and a woman who were both 58, did not report injuries.
Reports described a stand-up scooter and a black 2023 Tesla
West Side Spirit reported that Meyers was operating a stand-up electric scooter and that the driver was in a black 2023 Tesla electric car. The same report said Amsterdam Avenue and West 60th Street are one-way streets in the directions Meyers and the driver were traveling.
The intersection sits in a busy Lincoln Square area
The crash occurred at Amsterdam Avenue and West 60th Street on the Upper West Side. West Side Spirit described the intersection as well traveled and noted nearby corners including P.S. 191, the Encore apartment building, Fordham University at Lincoln Center and the Concerto apartments.
The police investigation continued after the driver stayed
The Daily News reported that no charges were immediately filed. Police said the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad was investigating the fatal crash.
