Audi driver was turning before fatal Staten Island collision

Police said the crash happened around 10 a.m. near Rockland Avenue and Forest Hill Road in New Springville. Gerardo Avila, 90, was riding in a Honda HR-V with a 70-year-old woman driving and a 6-year-old girl when the Honda and an Audi Q5 operated by a 50-year-old man were involved in a collision as the Audi driver made a left turn from Rockland Avenue onto Forest Hill Road. Avila died at Staten Island University North Hospital. The woman and child were also seriously injured, and the Audi driver was treated for minor injuries. Police said no arrests had been made as the investigation continued.

One passenger died and a child remained critically hurt
Avila died at Staten Island University North Hospital after the crash. The 6-year-old girl remained in critical condition the next day, while the 70-year-old woman was reported in critical but stable condition. The Audi driver was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
