   Police said David Rivera, 49, lost control while riding on the right shoulder of the eastbound LIE outer roadway ramp in Maspeth and died at the scene.
   Police told QNS that David Rivera, a 49-year-old Marlboro man, was riding a Suzuki GSX-R750 east on the Long Island Expressway outer roadway ramp, east of 69th Street in Maspeth, on the morning of Aug. 8, 2026. Investigators said Rivera was traveling on the right shoulder when he struck a metal sewer grate, lost control and collided with a barrier wall. Officers found him on the roadway with a serious head injury, and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene. NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad was still investigating, and no arrests had been made, QNS reported.

   Police recorded unsafe speed. A 23-year-old motorcycle rider hit a parked Lexus on Grand Avenue and was ejected with head injuries and severe lacerations.
   According to the police report, a 23-year-old man riding a motorcycle was traveling west on Grand Avenue near 73rd Street in Queens when he hit a parked 2018 Lexus IS 300. Police recorded unsafe speed. The rider was ejected and suffered head injuries and severe lacerations. Another occupant was listed; the report does not describe their injuries.
4. Distracted SUV driver turns into rider 2026-05-27T11:05:00+00:00

   On Grand Avenue, an SUV driver turned left and hit a MOPD rider going straight. Police recorded driver inattention. The 35-year-old rider suffered a leg fracture or dislocation.
   According to the police report, a 54-year-old man driving a Toyota Highlander was making a left turn on Grand Avenue at Remsen Place while a 35-year-old man riding a Honda MOPD was going straight. The driver and rider collided, and police recorded driver inattention/distraction for both. The rider was injured, with a knee, lower-leg or foot injury described as fracture, distortion or dislocation.

   A driver making a right turn on 77th Street at Eliot Avenue failed to yield and hit a 59-year-old rider. Police also recorded unsafe speed.
   According to the police report, a driver in an SUV was making a right turn on 77th Street at Eliot Avenue in Queens and failed to yield right-of-way, hitting a 59-year-old man riding an ESST. Police also recorded unsafe speed. The rider was injured, with harm to the elbow/lower arm/hand and a complaint of severe bleeding; the report lists him as ejected and conscious.
